Holly Elissa Bruno MA, JD is an advocate for early childhood education leadership. An author, trainer, speaker, consultant and professor, Bruno is an alumna of Harvard University's Institute for Educational Management. Holly Elissa teaches leadership and management courses for Wheelock College across the country. A recovering attorney, Bruno is a former assistant attorney general for the state of Maine and currently uses her skills to advocate for stronger leadership in early childhood education. Meg Meeker Pediatrician, mother and best-selling author of six books, Dr. Meg Meeker is one of the country’s leading experts on parenting, teens and children’s health.
Meg writes with the authority of a doctor and the big heart of a mother because she has spent the last 20 years practicing pediatric and adolescent medicine and also helping parents and teens to communicate more deeply about difficult topics such as sex, STDs and teen pregnancy. Her work with families has led to her new groundbreaking book, The Emotional Habits of Healthy Mothers, out from Ballantine Books in 2010. Allison Zmuda began her work in education as a public high school social studies teacher in Connecticut. Zmuda’s focus is to help every educator create a competent classroom¬ learning environment where all participants believe it is possible for them to be successful. A graduate of Yale, her first book, The Competent Classroom, launched her work as an education consultant. Her second book, High Stakes High School: A Guide for the Perplexed Parent, welcomes parents into the conversation about standards, assessment, and high-stakes testing. In addition to her work in the area of curriculum, assessment and instruction, Zmuda also specializes in short and long range continuous improvement planning, evaluating the degree to which structures, policies, and job descriptions support the work of a school to achieve its mission. This focus on systems-thinking is evident in Zmuda’s third book, Transforming Schools: Creating a Culture of Continuous Improvement, published by ASCD in 2004. Dr. Charlotte M. Hendricks iis a Certified Health Education Specialist, earning her doctoral degree from Indiana University in 1982. She has over 30 years experience in early childhood health education and research through the Head Start Program, Healthy Child Care Alabama, health departments, university settings, foundations and professional organizations, and grant projects. She is nationally recognized as a leader in health and safety education for childcare and preschool, and received the "Distinguished Service Award" of the American School Health Association in 2000. J. Michael Hall, Executive Director of Strong Fathers-Strong Families, a training, technical assistance, and facilitation organization that is focused on strengthening children by strengthening fathers and families. Through staff training, consultation, and event facilitation, Strong Fathers-Strong Families works with Head Starts, public schools, and churches as well as other organizations. Father of two sons, Mike has worked as a special education teacher, a teacher of the gifted and talented, an elementary and middle school principal, and a regional field office coordinator in the fatherhood field. Jackie Silberg is a recognized expert in the area of children's cognitive development. An author, trainer and education consultant, Silberg has been an adjunct instructor at Emporia State University, where she received her Master of Science Degree in Child Development. In 1996 she received the Distinguished Alumna Award for outstanding work in education. She currently guest lectures at colleges and universities throughout the US and abroad and is a consultant to the Discovery Channel. Dr. Regina Lamourelle
Regina notes that we are influencers of and influenced by our relationships and the environments in which we live. Her experience in early learning and care spans 30+ years and includes living abroad in two different countries, one marriage, four daughters, owning and operating child development centers, and establishing a children's theater and a family resource center. Currently, Regina is a professor of Human Development at Santiago Canyon College in Orange, CA, where she is also the department chair. She serves on the Board of Orange County Association for the Education of Young Children and is the Orange County representative for the California Association for the Education of Young Children. Regina speaks three languages and holds a doctorate in Early Childhood, Education and Social Sciences. Since 1996, her passion has been to teach educators how the brain learns so that they can care for children with kind hearts and knowledgeable brains. Maryann "Mar." Harman is a passionate advocate of the role of music in the cognitive development of young children. Harman is an experienced educator with a Bachelors Degree in Music and a Masters in Education, with an emphasis in Early Childhood. These dual degrees contribute to her ability to write songs that are musically and educationally sound for children as well as fun and easy to use for teachers and parents.
